Lend a Hand on Thanksgiving Day

The Heights & Hill Community Council, serving senior citizens in the community, calls upon neighbors to help with its annual Thanksgiving Day Luncheon held at Grace Church on Hicks Street. This dinner is a neighborhood tradition. It is truly a caring and generous production, with as many as 250 people being served. The main meal (18 turkeys, stuffing and sweet potatoes) is donated and cooked by the Cobble Hill Health Center, transported to Grace Church with the help of officers from the 84th Precinct. Heights and Hill supplies the other traditional meal fixings – except dessert - and Grace Church provides the venue, table settings/paper goods and coffee. Pies are baked and donated by area residents. Volunteers are needed to bake, set up, serve, socialize, clean up. Help is also needed to deliver meals to the homebound elderly.

If you can help with one or more of the above duties, call HHCC at (718) 596-8789 to sign up. Pies should be brought to the church on or before Thanksgiving morning. All other duties take place on Thanksgiving Day between 10:30 AM and 2 PM.
