BHA support for PS 8 continues with enthusiasm. Recently, we have helped the hardworking PTA with their efforts to reach out to alumni. In September, the school hosted an event for PS 8 alums and their parents. About 70 people attended, many of whom were nostalgic parents of now grown children. The reunion added a rich, new layer to PS 8’s sense of community.

Note: In contrast to the practices of private schools that have active development offices building on alumni relationships, most public schools do not keep alumni records - making it difficult for a school like PS 8 to network with its alumni. We extend thanks to BHA members who responded to our e-mail announcement last month about the PS 8 Read-A-Thon. Your pledges have encouraged children to read more, while raising funds for classroom libraries.
